EPA Market Update (8/22/09): best kept secret in East Palo Alto?

Did you know that we are the best kept secret in EPA? Certainly not a secret to you, since you're lucky to be in the know, but that's what people are saying. So it must be true. They like our friendly vendors, fresh produce, and low prices.

It's almost the end of August, which for many means the beginning of school and the winding down of vacation. But for us, it's prime season! With these warm warm days, the fruits and vegetables are being picked at their ripest, which for all of us, means tastier produce.

This Saturday from 2pm to 5pm, as always, we expect to have all sorts of fresh fruits and vegetables, including:

* organic corn (the delicious kind);

* sweet sweet honey;

* organic veggies, including broccolini, watercress, heirloom carrots (big and purple!), and lettuce;

* plus, organic peppers (serrano and bell), golden beets, and cabbage (yum, yum, yum and yum);

* potatoes;

* okra and collard greens (come early for the best selection);

* tomatoes! (oh so sweet and juicy);

* freshly-made hummos and other Mediterranean snacks (made right in Belmont, and perfect for appetizers and healthy snacks);

* sweet white peaches, multiple kinds of nectarines, plums and pluots;

* strawberries (from Salinas);

* watermelons;

* yummy honey;

* nopales, chayote, basil, cilantro, cucumbers, broccoli, mint, onions, greens, and other vegetables; and

* much more!

EBT/food stamps, WIC and Senior FMNP checks always accepted.

* WIC: we're happy to accept WIC FMNP market coupons.

Summer Celebration at Collective Roots

¿Sabia usted que somos el mejor secreto de todo East Palo Alto? Por cierto, no para usted, desde que usted ya sabe, pero eso es lo qué personas dicen. Por eso, tiene que ser la verdad. A ellos les gustan nuestros granjeros amables, productos frescos, y precios bajos.

Casi es el fin de agosto, que para muchos significa el principio de la escuela de nuevo, y el fin de las vacaciones. Pero para nosotros, ¡es la temporada principal! Con estos días calientes, las frutas y las verduras son picadas en sus condiciones más maduras, que para todos nosotros, significa productos más sabrosos.

Este sábado de 2 p.m. a 5 p.m., como siempre, vamos a tener varios tipos de frutas y verduras frescas (incluyendo nuevos productos orgánicos) para su fin de semana:

* vegetales latinos y orgánicos ; y

* mucho más!
